Nestled in the vibrant heart of Phnom Penh, the story of Cambodian Hair Extension Co., Ltd began in 2015 with a vision rooted in sustainability and a commitment to enhancing beauty worldwide. Founded by Soda and her husband Sambath Chhay, our company emerged from a realization that while the global market was flooded with synthetic alternatives, locally, Cambodian women were discarding their naturally beautiful hair. This sparked a pioneering idea: to reclaim and repurpose this precious resource, thereby providing an eco-friendly beauty solution.
Fueled by a deep desire to make a difference, our small team of five embarked on a mission to transform the hair extension industry. Through rigorous research and a passion for sustainability, we developed a business model that turned discarded natural hair into high-quality extensions that not only look beautiful but also feel incredible.
As we’ve grown to 97 dedicated team members, our commitment to quality has never wavered. Each strand of hair is carefully collected and crafted without the use of harsh chemicals, ensuring the natural integrity and strength of the extensions. This eco-conscious approach not only preserves the environment but also ensures that every product is a testament to purity and quality.
Our products quickly garnered attention and affection from customers worldwide, with our reputation spreading swiftly through word of mouth alone. The reason is simple: our extensions embody natural beauty and confidence, empowering wearers to feel their best while supporting ethical and sustainable practices.
Sambath, then a hotel manager, met an inspiring American tourist during her visit to Angkor, Siem Reap, Cambodia. Deeply moved by the kindness and warmth of the Cambodian people, she proposed a mission to support Cambodian women, especially those affected by family violence .
Together, they identified an opportunity to empower women in rural villages who were willing to sell their long hair for fair compensation, creating a sustainable income source while offering high-quality hair to customers.
After the American tourist returned to her home country, Sambath and his wife took a bold step. They borrowed money from the bank to continue the business, ensuring the livelihoods of their staff and maintaining the supply of premium hair extensions.
This led to the official creation and legal registration of the company under the name SambathSoda International.
As the business grew, so did its product offerings. The company introduced several new types of hair extensions, including closure hair, frontal hair, and wigs, catering to the diverse needs of their customers.
Recognizing the need for further growth and professionalism, Sambath and Soda International evolved from a family business into a fully-fledged company, rebranding as Cambodian Hair Extension Co., Ltd.
The company started with 8 staff members and a single product type but rapidly expanded its operations.
Despite the challenges posed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, Cambodian Hair Extension Co., Ltd. experienced significant growth, expanding its team to 93 employees. This expansion was fueled by the company’s unwavering commitment to quality and exceptional customer service, resulting in an impressive 85% customer retention rate.
